As in all the investigations held at Michelham Priory we split into 3 groups and each patrolled a designated area for an hour before swapping, the group I was in started in the Gatehouse. The group consisted of…
Stacey
Paul
Mark
Joanne
And Katherine B
The night started ok, when we got to the gatehouse it was still light outside so it didn’t feel as oppressive as it had before. Mark believes he made contact using his dowsing rods and the rods told us to go upstairs… so who are we to let the spirits down?
On our way up the stone steps I felt someone touch the top of my head, I know in many cases it could be a draft, cobweb or even the wall behind me but it was none of those as it was a calm night (for now) and there were no cobwebs… not on the stone steps at least and my broad shoulders made sure my head was nowhere near the wall. When we reached the top level Stacey had placed a chair in the middle of the room as a little experiment she then asked Joanne to sit in the chair, Stacey then began to fire questions at Joanne regarding the spirit in the room if any. As both Joanne and mark have had Psychic experiences it seemed to be the perfect time to hone their skills, Joanne said she was getting the presence of a man aged mid 30’s to early 40’s who used to work at the location, Mark picked up the fact that this man was aged 35 and named “John” at the same time Joanne got the letter “J” . Mark believed this man had died whilst working on this location and he was angry at the fact that it was an accident that should not of happened, Mark also picked up on the fact that this man had broken his neck. ( if you have read any of our other reports you will see that the name “Jonathan” has been picked up here before by Stacey and a death involving a fall was picked up by Maria, Mark and Joanne claim they know nothing about the location but no doubt people out there would love to point the finger and claim they cheated and yes it’s very easy for them to have read the reports prier to the investigation and remember names and facts BUT why would they? What would they gain?… NOTHING so why would they lie? I’ve seen Psychics in action before and they seemed genuine to me.)
We had a tea break and then headed towards the Music Room…Many orbs were picked up on both Video and digital cameras and the name Elizabeth who liked to play the Square piano (many believe it to be a harpsichord but it’s not) a lot of EMF activity was picked up but not around the light fittings as you would think but around the chairs, we left a digital recorder running and headed to the Priors room upstairs.
In the priors room we had left a trigger object (a cross on a piece of paper with a line drawn around it) it had moved from the out line, only millimetres but it was still a sign of activity in the room.
The room seemed quite quiet, Mark was getting movement with the dowsing rods near the fireplace but no names were picked up so we decided to leave and check the EVP recording in the Music Room. As we were walking out of the door we all heard a loud clanging sound by the fireplace and when we turned our torches on we saw a metal pan on the floor by the fireplace. As I was the last one out I can honestly say I never saw anybody throw anything, this pan was quite big and not the sort of thing you could hide up your jumper and I can also honestly say I didn’t throw it, I have to much respect for the Priory and Chris Tucker (the curator/manager) to want to damage anything and jeopardise a return visit. I know I seem to be defending W.S.P.I. and C.O.T.C. a lot but that’s because we have come under a lot of criticism in the past, I don’t mind criticism feel free to email your thoughts almosthaunted@hotmail.com but when it comes in the form of insults from snotty nosed kids claiming they know it all it tends to p*** you off a little.
Any way….
The pan was located in the fireplace under some fake logs according to an earlier photo taken by Paul, as you can see by the photo taken after the incident the fireplace has a bit of a lip to it meaning that the pan would have had to have been lifted up in order to have fallen on the floor.
The lip was to big for it to have slipped. Somebody moved it but who? Was it the same person who moved the cross? We then headed back to the Music room and collected the digital recorder (which by the way recorded a sound like a wooden chest being kicked or a door closing but the only door that was closed was closed by us on our way out.
We then had another tea break before heading to the Gardens, sadly not much happened during our hour long vigil apart from Paul getting some nice shots of the priory in the moonlight (David Bailey eat your heart out) and Mark getting movement on the dowsing rods.
All three groups gathered and discussed their findings and decided on a location for a séance, we thought the gatehouse would be good but sadly whatever came through was to quiet to here so we went to the monks room but again we didn’t have much luck so we headed to our favourite location… The Music Room.
As many séance’s in the past had been good here we thought it would be our best shot as it was now getting light outside, we spoke to Lord Sackville via Stacey but Adrian upset him again by claiming that he had given us permission to take his picture when really it was Thomas Cromwell who gave us permission to take his picture not Sackville (sorry Adrian) as reported at Halloween. We did also speak to Sackville as well at halloween but he was being his grumpy old self.
All in all another good investigation, Michelham Priory is a great location for a hunt.
