Arundel Jail is now the “Arundel Ghost Experience” a new attraction situated on Arundel’s busy high street, it’s a fun attraction in which you are shown around the jail whilst being scared out of your wits. The jail was built in around 1830 and back in it’s day Arundel Jail was used to store criminals who had been sentenced in the courtroom based in the town hall above the jail. The guilty party were then marched down a flight of stone steps to the Jail below to aweigh their fate which in those days was hanging.

Around twenty COTC members crammed into Arundel jail for what was going to be a memorable evening. We started as always with a talk and then groups were formed and assigned to a part of the jail, I was in Adrian’s group along with Cat and Sandy. Our first port of call was the Video room (this room used to be a jail cell but it has recently been decked out with a wide display of horror films and a tvmaking it quite cosy. In this room Sandy picked up on the presence of a lady but her energy kept coming and going as if she was being blocked, we also heard loud bangs coming from another part of the jail whilst we were in there. Strange lights were seen above my head by Sandy with her naked eye and cold spots were also noticed.

We then made our way to the far jail cell (we’ll call number 3) and in here I saw a bright Blue light move quickly across the door way and who ever sat in the chair in the door way felt either sick, dizzy, or pressure on their head,
Stuart who was in the main part of the Jail then informed us that he had seen a large shadowy figure head towards our cell. After a break it was time for my LONE vigil in the solitary confinement cell.

The cell seemed calmer than any of the others, the atmosphere was pleasant enough considering I was on my own in a dark haunted jail cell. I didn’t feel scared but I did feel as though someone was sitting next to me on my left hand side towards the corner, I kept checking to see if I really was alone but there was no one there (not that I could see). After chatting to Mark he said he sensed a large man in that cell and someone sat next to him stupidly I asked “which side?” Mark replied “the left, in the corner” during my time in the solitary cell a séance was taking place in the main part of the jail, I decided to take part in the second séance not knowing what it would lead to.

During the séance Stacey picked pick on a lady maybe the same one that Sandy and picked up on earlier and that Mark, Dean and Big “E” had also bumped into in cell 1. We got the lady’s name and a date but as this place has not been investigated before we don’t want to put too many details into the public domain. The spirit lady said she wanted to leave and that she couldn’t because the person who murdered her had bound her so she couldn’t, we asked her who had bound her she then said “Dean”. The spirit lady claimed that Dean (COTC member) had been her killer in a past life (and maybe fate had brought him back?) so he apologised and told her that he had now set her free. Without giving away too many details (again!) Sandy managed to set the spirit lady free and guide her towards the light, Ian (new member) managed to keep the energy flowing around the Circle, Stuart kept a large angry figure out of the circle and big “E” nearly passed out. It had to be the most emotional Séance I had ever witnessed and it’s not one I will forget in a hurry.
After all this we still had time for more so we tried our hand at table tipping. Sandy Johno, Mark, Michele and myself managed to get a few faint taps but sadly it was not consistent, we couldn’t gather a lot of information from the tapping but it was a response.

All in all a very good night was had all round, the trigger object didn’t move and the motion sensor was not tripped but it was still worth doing and it’s a location we will be returning to soon (hopefully) the whole evening was recorded for another Paradox Encounters DVD coming Soon!
